FAQ

LCDHost

  • LCDSirReal says the G15 is unresponsive
  • First, make sure your Logitech drivers are up-to-date. The ‘check for updates’ button in their software doesn’t work, so you need to visit their homepage and download the latest drivers from there.

If your drivers are up-to-date, then you need to make sure that LCDSirReal is enabled in the Logitech software UI. There are two checkboxes that need to be filled; one to ‘activate’ and one to enable ‘display on device’. For unknown reasons, these checkboxes can become unchecked after updating Logitech drivers – so doublecheck them.

If LCDSirReal is still saying it can’t access the G15, check if any other plugins work. If they don’t, then it’s a problem with your hardware or drivers, and you should contact Logitech. If other plugins work, then you should ask for help in our forum. Don’t forget to include the My Documents/LCDSirReal/errors.txt and My Documents/LCDSirReal/system.txt files in this case.

  • My screen has no boxes and says configuration file missing
  • LCDSirReal can’t find it’s configuration file lcdsirreal.txt when starting. This is usually because you didn’t follow the instructions on the homepage — namely, you must extract the files somewhere before starting LCDSirReal. If you just open the ZIP archive and start LCDSirReal from there, your computer will extract just the executable file to a temporary directory and run it from there.

What’s even worse, Logitech’s software now remembers that temporary file location and will keep starting LCDSirReal from there. To resolve the problem, you must locate where LCDSirReal.exe got placed (using Search feature or by looking inside My Documents/LCDSirReal/system.txt) and delete it. You must then follow the instructions on the home page, and extract all files from the archive before starting LCDSirReal.

  • How do I register LCDSirReal?
  • To register LCDSirReal, go to the homepage and find the PayPal button. Select an amount from the dropdown box and click the button. You’ll be taken to PayPal to process the payment. Once PayPal sends a confimation email to me, a donor code will be automatically mailed to the email address you provided to PayPal.

If you haven’t received the code after 1 hour, check your spam folders. If it’s not there, the internets may be acting up a bit, so please wait a full 24 hours before sending me an email. Make sure to let me know which email address you used with PayPal.

  • How do I get notified of new releases?
  • Two options. Either follow the RSS feed on the main page, or register on the forum and subscribe to the release tracking thread.

  • Will LCDHost be free?
  • No. I'm spending literally thousands of hours designing, writing and testing LCDHost, and I think it's only fair I get something back for that. I haven't yet decided how (money, advertising) or how much LCDHost will cost, but it will probably be around five to ten pecent of the price of a Logitech G19, whatever that turns out to be once LCDHost is done.

That said, while it's still in it's alpha state (meaning it's not yet feature complete), it will be free but the program will stop working two months after it's build date.
